Google Calendar API and Google User Data
If you choose to connect your Google account to Learn It Well, we will request your permission to access certain Google Calendar data using Google’s OAuth 2.0 authorization framework. Specifically, we may request access to the following Google scope:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events (Create, edit, and delete events on your calendars)
We only request this scope to allow teachers and students to manage lesson bookings more efficiently.
How We Use Google Calendar Data
We use the calendar.events scope strictly for the following purposes:
- Creating lesson events on your Google Calendar and retrieving Google Meet links
- Updating lesson events when a lesson is rescheduled
- Deleting or canceling lesson events when a booking is canceled
- Reading event metadata only when necessary to prevent duplicates or update the correct event
We do not access or store the contents of unrelated calendar events.
How We Store Google User Data
We may store the following limited data:
- The event IDs of lesson events created via the Calendar API
- Tokens necessary to maintain your connection (e.g., refresh tokens), which are stored securely and encrypted
- Metadata linking a lesson in our Platform to its corresponding Calendar event
We do not store the full contents of your Google Calendar events or any data unrelated to Learn It Well lesson scheduling.
Compliance with Google’s Limited Use Policy
Our use of information received from Google APIs conforms to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
This means:
- We only use Google user data to provide the features you have explicitly enabled
- We do not transfer Google user data to external parties except as necessary to provide or improve our features
- We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any unrelated purposes
- We allow you to disconnect your Google account at any time
User Control
Teachers who connect their Google accounts may revoke Learn It Well’s access to their Google Calendar data at any time through their Google Account settings. If access is revoked, Learn It Well will no longer be able to create or manage lesson-related calendar events, and the teacher’s account may become unusable or be deactivated, since this connection is required for providing our services.
